It’s Canada Day!
Happy Canada Day! This post is off topic for me, but I felt like sharing what we did today. My awesome sister-in-law invited the girls and I to go to McDonalds with her and her three boys (triplets!–they are 9). Hubs was working, so we went and had a great time. B surprised me by climbing up the Playplace structure and going down the slide. I was in the middle of trying to get one of the bigger kids to go up after her and she appeared at the bottom of the slide. I should have known she could do it. She kept going up and down the whole time we were there. She had a blast.
We went back to my SIL’s house for the afternoon. They just got a dog last weekend and B is not too sure what she thinks of it yet. She likes the idea of the dog, and she likes to pet her, but B sure doesn’t like when the dog comes towards her. She starts hand flapping (which is something she rarely does) and get nervous. I think she’s just trying to process all the sensory input she’s receiving at once. It was great to see how she interacted with the dog because I’ve been wanting to get one for some time. I think a dog would be great for B and really help her a lot (Ok, and I’m a total dog lover too!).
We stayed for dinner and ended up taking the kids and the dog to the park. B loved the park because it had slides and swings. She also gave me a few more grey hairs by trying to climb the “rock wall”. She kept starting up before I could get there. I know she can do it, but I like to be on hand just in case. She’d get so far up and say, “I don’ yike it, Mama!” and then I’d have to lift her down. She had some conversations with other kids at the park too–unfortuneately, they consisted of her saying “Go! Go!” when the big kids were blocking her path on the slide and she wanted them to move. LOL. Oh well, she’s learning.
B fell asleep almost from the moment we put her in her carseat to come home. G is so tired she’s crying right now, but I expect she’ll be out like a light in a few minutes. Hopefully Mom sleeps well tonight too!
In honour of Canada Day, here is a picture of Flower Pot Island in Fathom Five National Marine Park, Tobermory, Ontario. It’s a place we’ve visited on the Bruce Peninsula. The Bruce is where we spend a lot of our summers. I love it!
