Amazing Race Contestant has Aspergers
OK, so I’m a little behind on my televison watching. A week late, I finally got to watch the first episode of my favourite show, The Amazing Race. I hadn’t heard anything about this season’s cast, so imagine my surprise when the team of Zev and Justin were introduced and Zev talked about having Aspergers Syndrome. I am so thrilled to have a contestant who has special needs out there and living it.
I loved watching the bond between Zev and Justin–what a great friendship! And I’m just stunned that Zev is competing in the Race because he mentioned that he has trouble with social interactions and any change in routine–yet here he is running a race around the world! Talk about a change up in his routine. I’m really rooting for them.
I think it’s great to have an example for kids with special needs so that they can see that they can do anything, even if it is something that is outside of their strengths. And it’s a great encouragement to those of us who parent children with special needs. Nothing needs to hold them back.

I’m an Amazing Race junkie, but I missed the beginning (Team intros) last week. I’ll have to pay more attention to this team… instead I’ve been caught up in the poker player drama.
I love the Amazing Race too. So much fun. I loved when Zev gave the coat off his back to someone because he said it looked like he needed one. There’s something so sweet and genuine about him.
Those poker players are pretty slick, but I loved that they got caught so quickly by a fan. LOL. Cover blown!
I have to watch last night’s episode still, so I’ll probably post more about it this week
